how do i deal with my uncontrollable anger?
i had a traumatic childhood, though i rarely think of it…
for somet reason i get really pissed about stupid little things, and i completely see red.
it is so intense, i “come to” and things are destroyed everywhere, which makes me physically ill and humiliated at my behavior.
has anyone else experienced this? it is almost like blacking out…i can’t remember how or why these episodes happening.
(i only remember the point right before and right after.)
this is starting to happen more frequently and i am terrified.
any suggestions on controlling anger? or stopping anger before it progresses to the “red” phase?
This is rage, and it CAN BE helped.
Try to find a counselor who specializes in anger management. It’s the most helpful option, plus they can prescribe meds, so you don’t blow up any more while you are doing the inner work. There are all kinds of places that only charge based on your income.
If counseling is absolutely not an option, there are some very good anger management workbooks available from Amazon.com. Do a search and see if you find a couple that resonate with you, and work through them.
You’ve made a HUGE step by recognizing that your anger is causing you problems. I believe you will be able to deal with it. Best of luck to you.
